TPSS Member-owners and Shoppers,
Something I’ve always valued about working at TPSS is getting to understand this store’s place in the wider cooperative movement. We’re members of the National Co-op Grocers which represent 170 food co-ops around the country. Our co-op’s strength and knowledge benefit other food co-ops around the country, and we benefit from them.
We are also members of NCBA CLUSA, soon to be US Co-ops, an organization we don’t talk about as much but is incredibly important to the success of co-ops across all sectors. 150 million Americans are members of one or more cooperative businesses like credit unions, housing, rural electric co-ops and food co-ops just like TPSS. US Co-ops does tremendously important advocacy work advocating for co-ops on Capitol Hill.
US Co-ops is also helping to bring visibility to cooperatives across the country. TPSS was featured in a business profile after our remodel project. TPSS wants everyone to know what cooperatives are, how they’re different, and why they matter. That’s why we are partnering to support US Co-ops’ new campaign.
In 2025, US Co-ops lost funding through cuts to the federal government. The Cooperative Community Campaign offers co-op members across the country the opportunity to support and invest in the organization helping to grow the cooperative economy. Contributions start as low as $7. All funds raised by US Co-ops go toward supporting the cooperative business model that serves 150 million people, thousands of American communities, and the development of new cooperatives.
In an era of corporate consolidation and record profits, the cooperative model offers an important bulwark. I hope you’ll consider helping to sustain and grow the cooperative movement through this campaign.
