SNAP Goes Further at TPSS

OCTOBER 29th, 2025

Co-op shoppers and owners –

We’re less than 72 hours from November 1, when the federal government is expected to fail to issue SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits to more than 40 million Americans who rely on the program. States—including Maryland and the District of Columbia—have sued to compel the administration to release available funds, but as of this writing, the outcome is uncertain. At TPSS, we’re planning for the worst and continuing to advocate for what’s right.

In the meantime, our Fresh Checks program remains active through our partnership with Crossroads Community Food Network. Anyone using SNAP can receive 50% off all fresh fruits and vegetables—no cap— thanks to this grant-funded initiative. If you know anyone who could benefit, please help us spread the word. Every dollar of unused SNAP benefits can go further at TPSS right now.

If you’d like to help our neighbors weather this completely unnecessary crisis, please consider contributing our Feed a Neighbor fund, either online store or at the register. Donations sustain Fresh Checks beyond the grant and allow us to extend support to other SNAP-eligible foods across the store.

We also encourage you to support other organizations who are on the front lines ensuring everyone in our community can eat. Consider donating to Manna, Small Things Matter or Crossroads Community Food Network. Remember that cash donations often have the biggest impact: food assistance organizations can purchase products at wholesale prices, stretching every dollar further than your grocery store purchase can.

Thank you for standing with us in solidarity and compassion. Together, we can help keep our community nourished.
