(5/1/2026) May Day at TPSS

May Day (May 1) is a time to celebrate workers and the essential role they play in our communities. It’s something we mark each year at TPSS.

In the week leading up to May Day, we’ll celebrate our staff with daily moments of appreciation. On May 1 itself, we recognize the day as a holiday by offering time-and-a-half pay for those who are working, as one way of honoring our team’s contributions.

This year, May Day is also marked by a national day of action, with many calling for a pause in work, school, and shopping to highlight the role of workers and the growing gap between labor and wealth.

We support these efforts and the long tradition of May Day as both a celebration of workers and a moment for collective action.

As a community-owned cooperative and a proudly unionized workplace, our role in this movement looks a little different. We will remain open, continuing our work of providing good jobs, local ownership, and prioritizing people over profits.

This May Day, whether you’re working, organizing, resting, or reflecting, we invite you to join us in celebrating our staff by sharing words of appreciation. You can do so through the form below, or by leaving a note in the store beginning this weekend.
