Earth Day 2026: Change Grows Here

You’re Invited to our annual Earth Day Celebration at TPSS
Sunday, April 12 | 10:00 am–3:00 pm

Join us for TPSS Co-op’s annual Earth Day celebration—our largest community event of the year—on Sunday, April 12 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

This year’s theme is “Change Grows Here.” The day will feature live music, speakers, and tabling by a wide range of partner organizations working at the intersection of food, climate, and community. Shoppers and neighbors of all ages will have opportunities to learn from leaders in climate resilience and innovative green practices, connect with local nonprofits and elected officials, and enjoy delicious food from local vendors.

“The Earth Day Celebration really represents the heart of our mission,” says TPSS Co-op General Manager Mike Houston. “It’s a chance for our community to come together, share knowledge collaboratively, and explore how we can build a more just and sustainable food system—together.”

The event is free and open to the public.

This year, we’ve got more activities for kids and a full schedule of educational sessions on reducing waste.

At Earth Day, you can meet community organizations caring for people and the earth (see partners list below), eat delicious food (see vendor list below), blow giant bubbles, draw with sidewalk chalk, make Earth Day crafts led by Takoma Cooperative Nursery School, listen to remarks by elected officials, and more!

We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Earth Day at the Co-op!
