I am a current board member and would like to continue to serve the Co-op and the larger community. I have 1+ year experience serving on the TPSS Co-op board and four years serving on my condominium association. Including three years as its president and one year as treasurer.
Why are you interested in serving on the Board?
I have done some really interesting things serving on on the Co-op board and wish to continue serving. We are approaching a very unique time in the co-op as we look for expansion and I am looking forward to bring my knowledge to the efforts.
What is your favorite co-operative principle and why?
One of my passions is local. I buy local produce, I grow my own produce, and I like buying local products. Buying local is so much better for our environment, saving fuel, carbon emissions, and time; it also supports local venders and their employees keeping money in our community instead of sending it to shareholders somewhere else.
What does the expression “diversity and equity “ mean to you and why is it important in the context of an organization like the coop? How are the ideas of equity and diversity reflected in your everyday life?
Diversity and Equity means creating spaces where anyone of any background feels respected, heard, and equal. This means that the co-op is taking time and thinking about how we are curating spaces. Whether that means the shopping experience or the board meetings. I attempt to create these spaces with any organization or individual I encounter.
